Makeup Brushes….it’s an Investment

While I believe that makeup application requires a certain amount of skill, I think that the type of tools aka makeup brushes can makes a huge difference in how your makeup turns out. I’ve found that it doesn’t matter drug store or department store makeup (in my opinion) when you have the right tools you can transform any product! These visions of loveliness have caught my eye so now I have to budget to add them to the family. The Estee Lauder Sculpting foundation brush and the Chanel Pinceau Poudre Biseaute  angled powder brushes are going to be debuting in my makeup kit shortly.

Seriously in all honesty we’ve all tried those not so great brushes that were budget friendly but ruined your perfect press powder or eyeshadow because the bristles were just the pits.  Or is it just me?  And honestly, I CAN NOT take the risk of ruining favorites because of sub par brushes.

Let me know  in the comments about your favorite brushes and the products you use them with. I’d love to hear from you!

“Homemade Sugar Scrubs”

tips

Simple yet helpful tips for keeping your lips exfoliated and moisturized this fall/winter.

Well really anytime; especially if you suffer from overly dry lips.

I used a teaspoon of regular sugar and a splash of olive oil to make my homemade lip scrub (in the palm of my hand, literally). You just need enough olive oil to make the sugar stick and apply to your lips. I just needed enough for my morning face care routine before work. I start to notice my lips getting a bit drier as it gets colder.

So get the homemade scrub nice and thick and apply it to your lips, scrub your lips in a circular motion with your index finger.

Then I let it stay on my lips for about a minute while I’m washing my face or using my Clarisonic. I remove the scrub with a warm towel and apply good ole petroleum jelly to my lips for moisture.

And there you have it a homemade lip scrub that didn’t break the bank!

Fall Lippies

Happy Monday!! Here’s a quick hit on the fall lip trends for 2014. I dig the reds, the berries, the nudes and the peachy nudes but that brown honey…. no ma’am! I’m not here for the brown lip color trend AT ALL, for me personally it makes me appear way too washed out!

Some of the color trends are making reappearance from last fall and that’s just fine with me. Some things are just classic. Here are a couple lippies I love at various price points. I’m a girl all about lip color and bold lip color at that! I tend to dress down in the cooler months and jazz it up with a rocking lip color.
